
I’m thrilled to have this new campaign for Carlsberg Ireland hit the streets of Dublin. The Tenth Man approached me with the opportunity to shoot with them, and I jumped at the chance.
The Tenth Man team developed a great creative, as they put it—
“When Carlsberg hit up The Tenth Man to shine a light on their sponsorship of the Ireland football team ahead of a massive Nations League clash with England, we were delighted to get to work.
…And when the FAI hired England-slaying Iceland legend Heimir Hallgrimsson, we realized that this appointment needed a big welcome.
Taking inspiration from the Icelandic football fans’ famous Viking Thunderclap celebration, we put Carlsberg in the conversation ahead of the September 7th Nations League opener with a hair-raising social video welcoming Heimir to the fold, as well as working with photographer Rich Davenport to create Viking Thunderclap inspired OOH & DOOH.”
We had a couple of hours to shoot in the afternoon after the motion team wrapped their shots. We shot in two parts: part one—the essential pint shot, and part two, the fans ‘bringing the thunder.’ with a few variations for the 48 & 6 Sheet.
It’s great to see this displayed around the city on billboards, buses, and especially loving the backlit billboards.
